Southwest Region Planning Commission’s Winter Meeting, scheduled for February 14th at 5:00 p.m., will feature two timely topics: how we might improve public transportation in the Monadnock Region and an ongoing effort to brand and market the region as place to visit, live, work, and study.

The first topic will focus on the recent completion of SWRPC’s recently completed transit feasibility study, which examines a variety of scenarios for expanding service. The study considers expanding transit access both through traditional public bus service, as well as microtransit, an innovative on-demand service model that shares many similarities with ridehailing platforms such as Uber. Assistant Director J. B. Mack will provide an overview of the study and its findings.

The second topic, regional branding, will feature an ongoing initiative led by the Greater Keene and Peterborough Chamber (GKPC) to develop a regional brand and market the region to prospective visitors, students, residents, and workers. GKPC aims to partner with a wide variety of groups and organizations—including municipalities—to promote the brand. Attendees will hear about progress made to date and about how communities can get involved.

The meeting will be held at Cohen Hall, which is located on the second floor of the Keene Public Library Annex (entrance on Winter Street). Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free to attend. Please register via e-mail at [email protected] or by calling (603) 357-0557.
