Stronger Towns: Preparing NH Communities for Flooding
- March 3, 2026
- Planning
Monday, April 6th, from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm at Heberton Hall in Keene, NH.
Join Dartmouth College, the Southwest Regional Planning Commission, and the City of Keene on Monday, April 6, at Heberton Hall in Keene, NH, for a workshop focused on flooding resilience. Local leaders, planners, and community service organizations from across the Monadnock region are invited to come together to address flooding, an increasingly urgent challenge for many of our communities. A free lunch is provided at 12 PM for those who would like to arrive and network before the event.
The goal is to better understand on-the-ground challenges, identify gaps in resources and response, and work together to create more effective, community-informed approaches to flood preparedness and response.
This is a free event. In addition, a small stipend may be available to support participation by representatives from small rural towns and community service organizations, if flooding is not part of your job responsibilities.
The workshop will begin with an overview of current climate and flood trends and projections, ongoing research to identify high-risk areas for flooding, and a sampling of success stories we are seeing across the region. This will be followed by small-group discussion sessions exploring key questions such as:
- What flood impacts are communities experiencing today
- What local responses have worked, and where barriers remain
- What information, tools, or resources would make it easier for communities and the most vulnerable populations to prepare and respond
This is a chance for voices from the front lines to help shape more responsive and inclusive flood preparedness strategies across the region. Please let us know if you can attend. Linked here is the registration form to help us plan the space and order enough lunch for everyone who is attending. If you have any questions, please reach out to Christa Daniels at [email protected].
Thank you for all you do to support resilient communities,
