About the Study:
The Southwest Region Planning Commission (SWRPC) is partnering with four transportation agencies that provide service to Southwest New Hampshire to examine the feasibility of expanding public transit services along the Route 12 Corridor north of Keene. The four participating agencies include the American Red Cross – NH West Chapter, Connecticut River Transit, Community Alliance Transportation and Home Healthcare, Hospice, and Community.
The focus area for the study includes the Route 12 North corridor and its connections to:
Charlestown, NH Rockingham, VT
Keene, NH Springfield, VT
Walpole, NH Westminster, VT
Westmoreland, NH Putney, VT
In order to understand potential ridership, the level of need of various population groups as well as the kind of political and financial support that can be expected from community stakeholders, SWRPC, in consultation with the four partner transit agencies, conducted a market analysis and needs assessment. A summary of the information contained in this assessment can be viewed by clicking on the following link: Market and Needs Study Presentation - June 16, 2010.
In addition to the market analysis and needs assessment, a private consultant was hired (Steadman Hill Consulting Inc.) to conduct a technical evaluation of transit and paratransit improvements. This evaluation will be used to help identify suitable future transportation services.
