Brownfields Projects Nearing Completion

Since the summer of 2006, the Southwest Region Brownfields Assessment Program has been focused on two projects that are now nearing completion. Frank's Texaco in Winchester saw the removal of three underground storage tanks and piping related to the old gasoline pumps. Bedard's Auto Repair and General Store in Surry had one tank removed as well as piping related to the former gasoline pumps and the pump island itself. Both projects have helped the current property owners come into compliance with the NH Department of Environmental Services' regulations regarding underground storage tanks and make them eligible for clean-up funds. If you know of a site within your community that may be contaminated and you would like further information about the Brownfields Assessment Program, please contact Natalie Shafiroff of Commission staff.
