Regional Economic Development
Partnership
The Regional Economic
Development Partnership or REDP was initiated in January, 1997 and
has three primary purposes:
-
To assist the Region's municipalities in
conducting economic development planning as a component of overall
master planning;
-
To support the Commission's Economic Development
Advisory Committee to serve as a forum for coordination and dialogue; and
-
To conduct studies of the Southwest Region with
focus on trends and analyses pertaining to economic development
characteristics of the Region.
Comprising the REDP is the New Hampshire Community Development
Finance Authority (CDFA); the two economic development corporations
serving the Southwest Region -
Monadnock Economic Development
Corporation (MEDC) and Monadnock Business Ventures (MBV); and the
Southwest Region Planning Commission (SWRPC). Through the resources
provided by these agencies, communities are able to focus on
economic development planning as an integral part of their future.
How the Program Works:
Dialogue is established between municipalities interested and
concerned about the future of their community and economic
development and the Planning Commission. A process is designed
between the municipality and the Planning Commission that will focus
on the needs of the municipality and develop an Economic Development
Plan for the municipality. A primary portion of this process
is involvement from the citizens and organizations of the community.
In addition, an economic data base and analyses is completed for the
community. The process takes approximately one year to complete and
the final product will contain goals, long and short term,
accompanied by recommendations as to how the community may achieve
these goals. Financial support is provided to assist municipalities
in funding for the Economic Development Plan.
