Grant (CDBG) Administration
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is funded by
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Annual
allocations of these federal funds are made to states and large
cities. Other cities, towns, and counties may apply for a portion of
the state allocation.
The program's primary objective is to benefit
persons of low and moderate income. HUD defines moderate income as
80% of an area's median household income. Income limits, adjusted
for family size are published annually for Cheshire County, as well
as other areas.
Grants are made for projects in the following
categories: Housing, Public Facilities, and Economic Development.
The NH Office of State Planning (OSP) awards CDBG funds for the
first two categories through two application rounds, in January and
July. Economic Development applications are accepted throughout the
year. Towns with populations of 10,000 or less may apply for up to
$350,000 annually. Counties or municipalities with populations
greater than 10,000 may apply for up to $500,000.
